December 4, 2018 – NTSOC, a non-profit serving the special needs community in southern Colorado, announced it will open its newly created branch office in Pueblo, Colorado, on Thursday, December 6, 2018. The Pueblo Chamber of Commerce is officiating a ribbon cutting ceremony at 3 p.m., marking the beginning of the non-profit’s pediatric home health care and Certified Nurse Aide training program in Pueblo.
The state of Colorado has granted NTSOC permission to operate the pediatric home health business out of both Colorado Springs and the new branch office in Pueblo, serving Pueblo, El Paso, Teller, Crowley, Huerfano, Las Animas, Otero, Custer, Fremont, Douglas, Elbert, Lincoln, and Park counties.
Additionally, the state has approved NTSOC’s branch Certified Nurse Aide training program in Pueblo. Traditionally, many CNA students who obtain licensure through NTSOC take care of their own children with special needs in the home environment. Nationally, a shortage in CNA workers also makes this a lucrative field to enter, often being the first step in a nursing or medical career.
“On behalf of Nursing & Therapy Services of Colorado, we are honored and excited to start this new journey,” said Lisa Davis, President, and Chief Executive Officer at NTSOC. “We look forward to working and collaborating with the other nonprofits and community leaders to better serve and advocate for the people of Pueblo and its surrounding communities, particularly within the special needs community. We have already been warmly welcomed by so many.”
Other Services
NTSOC is contracted with the State of Colorado to provide case management services for the Children’s Home and Community-Based Services (C-HCBS) Medicaid Waiver Program. Case Managers at NTSOC are able to serve families throughout Colorado.
Additionally, NTSOC is a Program Approved Service Agency (PASA) approved respite service provider serving Pueblo and the surrounding counties but operating this line of business out of Colorado Springs. Recipients of respite hours serviced through NTSOC include individuals on Medicaid waivers, as well as 75 families typically not receiving respite hours through a grant from Easter Seals Colorado and the Colorado Respite Coalition.
